One of our favorite campgrounds we have visited so far is the Kincaid Lake Campground on the Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana. Kincaid Lake is located near Alexandria, LA.
We highly recommend this campground! The sites are large and offer a more-than-decent amount of privacy. Some offer more space than others, but even the smallest spots are still much more roomy than other campsites we’ve visited. There are double and single spots available. There is also a primitive campground which is still very nice, although we’ve only ever stayed at the main campground. There is a bathhouse with 2 toilets and a shower (at least in the woman’s room) that has always been well-maintained and clean. There are bear-proof trash cans near every site, giving everyone easy access to trash disposal. The hiking here is GREAT! There are a few trails that can be used for either hiking or biking. There is also a fishing pier off of one of the hiking trails. There is also a beach and picnic-area, although it’s always been closed when we go because we go during the fall.
This campground is dog-friendly (must be leashed) and kid friendly! There’s a nice play-set for kids near the bathhouse.
Here are several pictures from our Oct 2013 and 2014 trips. Sorry that 90% is of dogs and not too many of the actual campsites. We’ll do better next time!!
